10 days ago, we announced the launch of the Recalbox RGB Dual 2, a HAT for the Raspberry Pi 5 that lets you replay all your retro games on a CRT or VGA monitor. This new accessory, available for pre-order on Kickstarter, is aimed at enthusiasts looking for an experience faithful to their childhood memories.

A major evolution of the RGB Dual

Following on from the success of the first RGB Dual, this new version pushes the boundaries of authenticity and performance even further with significant improvements:

The Recalbox RGB Dual 2 is equipped with four video outputs:

• SCART: for compatibility with CRT televisions.
• RCA: for composite signals only, ideal for televisions without SCART.
• VGA: dedicated to PC monitors.
• Jack Audio/Video: for connecting to a TV with a Jack/RCA cable (yellow, white and red plugs) or to an external amplifier.

All this is boosted by a new ultra-high-quality I2S DAC audio module, capable of handling signals up to 384 kHz / 32 bits for an unrivalled sound experience.

So you can connect the Recalbox RGB Dual 2 to CRT TVs the world over!

And all this while retaining the HDMI output so you can run Recalbox in HD.

• Support for TV 4/3 and 16/9 on the SCART and RCA sockets, compatible with the hack wildscreen so you can play compatible Dreamcast, Super Nintendo and Megadrive games in 16/9, without any image distortion!
• Support for progressive and interlaced modes for RGB signals, allowing you to restore the original resolutions of 480i systems.
• Dynamic resolution** management for certain titles that change resolution during play (240p > 480i > 240p).
• Native support for Guncon 2** for fans of pistol-shooting games!

The RecalTower to dress it all up

To accompany the Recalbox RGB Dual 2 and the Raspberry Pi 5, we've come up with a brand new official Recalbox case: the RecalTower! This is a stackable case designed to adapt to all configurations.

• The first stack available is the official case for Raspberry Pi 5.
• The second stack is dedicated to the Recalbox RGB Dual 2!

The advantage of the RecalTower is its ability to stack stacks infinitely. You'll be able to customise your setup by adding new features over time!

Participatory funding designed with gamers in mind

Launched on 28 March**, the crowdfunding campaign was an immediate success, with 200% of the target reached in less than an hour!
